Team CATS: The LA Marathon
 

You… yes, YOU… can run the LA Marathon!

Join Team CATS: Break the Silence/Stop the Abuse on an amazing journey to raise funds for our Center for Assault Treatment Services (CATS), which provides 1,000 sexual assault and abuse victims each year with the services they need to begin the recovery process and helps law enforcement with the investigation process. As a runner you will learn what you are truly capable of, and at the same time provide vital support to victims on their road to recovery!

CATS Official Training Program to get you across the finish line provided and supported by Fleet Feet Sports, Encino and Brooks Sports and held in the San Fernando Valley

How to Become a Team CATS Member

1. Attend an informational meeting.

• Thursday, July 21 at Fleet Feet Sports Encino
• Wednesday, August 17 at Los Toros Mexican Restaurant, Chatsworth
• Tuesday, August 23 at Northridge Hospital, Northridge

2. Make a commitment to raise funds to support Northridge Hospital’s Center for Assault Treatment Services (CATS), which provides 1,000 victims of sexual abuse and assault with the services they need to begin the recovery process and assists law enforcement with the investigation process to protect victims from further harm.

3. Sign up as a Team CATS member which entitles you to join our official training program at the discounted rate of $100 for a 24 week training program.

4. Invite your family, friends and co-workers to support you by making a donation on your personalized fundraising page through www.crowdrise.com.

• Suggested minimum to receive all team incentives is $1,250
  (CATS pays for training, LA Marathon entry fee, provides CATS embroidered cap
  and training t-shirt)
• Raise $750 (CATS pays for training, provides cap and t-shirt.
• Raise the required $500 minimum to become an official team member
  and receive a CATS cap.

5. Choose a training program. Fleet Feet Sports/Brooks Sports is the official CATS LA Marathon training program. Its 24 week training program begins on Tuesday, October 4 at Lake Balboa Park. The training consists of optional Tuesday night short runs, Thursday night Yoga and Saturday long runs. You can sign up for Team CATS and the Fleet Feet Sports LA Marathon Training Program at our orientation meetings or call CATS at 818-785-3489. Sat. 3/17, 8:00am - 5K Run/Walk
Sun. 3/18 7:24 am - LA Marathon

The 2011-2012 Fleet Feet Sports/Brooks Sports’ goal is to ensure that you cross that finish line on March 18, 2012.

The Fleet Feet /Brooks Training Program Includess:
• 24 weeks of training
• 3 trainings per week: Tuesday short runs, Thursday Yoga, Saturday long runs
•Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced runners/walkers are welcome
•Running, Run/Walk and Walking Pace Groups established
•Training day water stations and sports drink replacement fluid
•Gait analysis and personal performance evaluation
•Shoe fitting
•Sports bra fitting
•Specialized form and technique instruction
•Informational sessions with experts
•And much much more!!

CATS will provide fundraising guidance and support, a training manual, monthly fundraising incentive prizes, and a grand prize raffle.
